The unit EOB is designed for operating the override valve of emergency brake and the control of valves of electro-pneumatic braking, as well as electro-pneumatic unbraking (epb) in railway carriage using commands from informational 18-line wire UIC cable or, braking 9-line wire UIC cable.EOB0xx
It consists of two plates:
- The plate EOB-DB that is active by controlling the brakes ad effectum the code UIC558, attachment 1 for extended functions of signals through line wires UIC9, UIC10, UIC11, UIC12 of the 18- line wire information lead, applied to DB. The unit also includes current shielding circuits for feeding of push buttons of the standard commands of UIC cable.
- The plate EOB-UIC that is active by controlling the brakes ad effectum the recommendation UIC541-5 with independent 9- line wire brake cable under the carriage.
The unit EOB is feeded by voltage of 24Vjs from the carriage battery from the circuit protected by 6A breaker.
The unit works automatically, does not require attendance, therefore it does not have any regulation element.
Description of function of the plate EOB-DB:
The plate EOB-DB controls the valves of braking, unbraking and a bypass valve of emergency brake in the carriage. For it’s activity, the plate evaluates the stage of shutters of the emergency brake in the carriage and, the direct-current signals of extended functions on leads UIC9, UIC10, UIC11, UIC12 of continuous information cable according to UIC558. To the functionality of emergency brake control, it is necessary to have alternating voltage of 0,9V/1kHz on leads UIC9/UIC10 from the drive carriage (HDV). The plate EOB-DB does not have either controlling or signaling components but, it switches on and off the red and white bulbs on the instrument in the carriage.
In the case that, in any of the carriages of the train, any shutter of the emergency brake is being pulled, its working contact would connect the voltage of +24V from secured circuit of the carriage battery of the said carriage to the unit EOB-DB in the carriage. This way, the resonance circuit in the unit tuned to 1kHz will be connected to the leads UIC9 a UIC10. providing the 1kHz signal from HDV tp leads UIC9 a UIC10 is present, the decoding circuit in the said unit will switch on the white signal bulb on instrument panel in the carriage. Connecting the resonance circuit to leads UIC9 a UIC10 is evaluated in HDV and it is signalizing the driver pulling of emergency brake in some of the train’s carriages by interrupting red light and a sound signal. At the same time, the signal bulb starts to signalize by interrupting red light on interrupting panel in the carriage – emergency brake pulled.
If the driver of HDV decides that the train is unable to stop, he will push the button of emergency break override, thus he sends a signal -24V to the lead UIC9. This signal, in a particular carriage, will connect the feeding voltage of +24V through electrical contact of retracted shutter to the valve of emergency brake override. This stage is being signaled by interrupting white light of signal bulb in the carriage’s distributor and, on the stand of HDV driver is this stage signaled by consistent red light of signal bulb and simultaneously, the sound signal is switched off. Operative braking remains fully functional and the diver is able to stop the train in a suitable place.
If the driver decides that the train, by pulling the shutter of emergency brake, is able to stop, he will support braking by a braker, thus sending a signal of -24V to the lead No. 10. In each and every of the carriages, units EOB-DB are activating braking valves in the whole train. Unbraking is provided by the HDV driver, when he offsets the braker control to the unbraking position, sending thus a signal of -24V to the lead UIC11. Through this signal, unbraking valves in the whole train are activated.
Description of the plate EOB -UIC functions:
The plate EOB-UIC controls the valves of braking, unbraking and, the bypass valve of emergency brake in the carriage as well. For its activating, it evaluates the stage of shutters of the emergency brake in the carriage and, direct-current signals on leads 1, 2, 3, 4 and D of the continuous braking cable according to UIC541-5. The plate EOB-UIC includes four signaling LED, which indicate operational stage.
If in any carriage of the train, some of the shutters of emergency brake is pulled, its two working contacts remain switched on. One contact of the shutter of emergency brake will connect loading resistor to the lead D, thus provides for signaling the pull of emergency brake to the HDV driver. Simultaneously allows receipt of command for bypass of emergency brake from HDV.
Second contact of the shutter of emergency brake connects +24V from safeguarding circuit of carriage battery of the particular carriage to the unit EOB-UIC and allows feeding the valve of emergency brake override from the carriage’s battery. Simultaneously in particular carriage, the white bulb on the distributor panel glows with consistent white light and, the red bulb with interrupting red light.
If the HDV driver decides that the train is unable to stop, he will push the button of the emergency brake override and this way hi sends a signal of +48V to the lead D of braking cable. This signal, in a particular carriage will connect feeding voltage of +24V through electrical contact of pulled shutter to the valve of the bypass of emergency brake. This stage is signalized by interrupting white light of the signaling bulb in the carriage’s distributor and, on the post of HDV driver, this stage is signaled by permanent red light of the signaling bulb and also, the sound signal is switched off. Operational braking remains fully functional and the driver stops the train in an appropriate place.
If the driver decides that the train is able to stop after pulling the shutter of emergency brake, he will support the braking by a braker an d this way ho sends a signal of +72V to the lead No. 4. Units EOB-UIC in each and every carriage of the train activate braking valves in the whole train. Unbraking is provided by HDV driver by over switching the braker control to unbraking position, and this way a signal of +72V is sent to the lead No. 3 of the braking cable. By this signal, unbraking valves in the whole train are being activated.
