Automatic information system for passengers has been designed by the REGONIK Ltd. Bratislava company, in collaboration with the BUSE Ltd. Blansko company, and it is designed for light railway vehicles of regional transport.
The information system consists of REGONIK VRZ train broadcasting device elements, that are used in ZSSK and ČD trains and correspond with the UIC 568 recommendations of the European Railway Union. Furthermore, it consists of optical information „BUSE SIS“ unit
elements , that meet the current conditions of European standard for information systems for transportation, according to the german VDV 300(IBIS) recommendation.
Control part of the system:
Consists of two BS100.1 board-computers, placed on each one of the control stands of the vehicle. The board-computer operates all of the periferies connected to it, following the program and connected inputs. The side optic panels, the inner optic panels, the ticket markers and the digital signalizer are connected to the IBIS conductor bar. The board-computer is also equipped with a RS485 conductor bar for attaching a device that requires a faster communication for its function due to the large amount of data transmitted (tachograph, chip card reader and so on). The board computer also provides a periodical check of all connected periferies and displays their potential malfunctions on a BS100 display. Those are, at the same time, saved to the memory of the BS100 for a latter analysis.
Acoustic part of the system provides:
- Automatic standardized announcements about the course of the ride and up-to-date informations, or a live announcement directly from the driver. It is possible to choose to broadcast the announcement to the own carriage or to the whole set, when the additional carriages or another engine unit are attached. The automatic announcement of the stops and other standardized announcements are realized via the BS200 digital signalizer, with the possibility of automatic control via the IBIS conductor bar, using the BS100.1 board-computer, according to the programmed criteria (time, unlocking and opening the door).
- Service calls between driver cabins in every carriage.
Optical part of the system provides:
- The inner BS120 panels, placed above the entrance door in the area for passengers, display the information about the following stop, stop at a request stop, the destination of the drive, real time, eventually the metering zone and other required information. The display panel field with 8 rows and 135 columns consists of super-luminous red LED matrices. The regulation of the luminance of the LEDs from the level of the outer lighting enables an optimal readability of static, running, inverse or blinking notices. The panel is interconnected with the BS100 board-computer via the IBIS conductor bar.
- The BS310 side panels are placed in the upper part of the second side window at both sides of the vehicle. They provide information about the final stop, eventually additional information for passengers standing at the platform. The display panel field with 19 rows and 96 columns consists of super-luminous yellow LED matrices. The regulation of the luminance of the LEDs from the level of the outer lighting enables an optimal readability of static, running, inverse or blinking notices. The panel is interconnected with the BS100 board-computer via the IBIS conductor bar.
Dispatch part of the system
Consists of two Mikroelektronika NJ24CS ticket markers. It serves for marking the tickets in a mass transportation of persons. The number of the service, the stop and time and date of marking are printed on a ticket max. 76 mm wide. The markers are controlled via the IBIS conductor bar from the BS100 board-computer, that is able to monitor their status and an eventual malfunctions at the same time.
Basic description of function of the information system
The activating element at the control stand also activates the board-computer and performs the diagnostics of the elements connected in the set. The information system prepares for the drive by inducing the number of the train according to the traffic time table on the side and inner optic panels. Before the door closes and before the vehicle leaves the starting station, the driver activates the whole system by pushing the activating key on the board-computer. The next stop is announced after the programmed time criterion passes, and the title of the next stop is announced on the inner panels and this entry is alternated with an entry displaying the real time.
The title of the current stop is announced after unlocking the door on the next stop, and the following stop is announced after the door is closed. The title of the next stop appears on the inner panel and this entry is altered by the real time entry. This cycle repeats itself until the final stop. In case of passenger pushing the „request stop“ button, the driver is optically and acoustically informed about this request. After accepting the request to stop, the „WE WILL STOP“ information is altered by an entry announcing the title of the next stop and the real time.
The automatic acoustic and optical information system for passengers is an open system and makes it possible to work out other functions for passengers (e.g. working out a system for the blind), but also for the operating personnel of the railways (e.g. a dispatcher system of operation), without altering the hardware.
